I have always been fascinated by the news media business, and the challenge of telling a clear, informative and impactful story in a finite amount of space. Journalism speaks to me because I’ve always considered myself a storyteller — going back to when I started a newsletter for my elementary school in the second grade.
My storytelling abilities have grown since then (I hope), but I still get a rush every time I get the chance to write a new story and tell readers something they didn’t know.
I’m now working at my hometown paper as a breaking news reporter, where I write several stories a day about a variety of news and issues that affect metro Atlanta residents. It’s the start of what I hope will be a career of innovative and eye-opening work.
My professional experience includes writing for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (where I currently work), The Boston Globe, the Thomson Reuters Foundation, The Lowell Sun, and Boston.com. My reporting has taken me to places as far as London and Albania.
I’m a recent graduate of Boston University, where I majored in journalism with a statistics concentration. I’m a recipient of the Posse Foundation Full-Tuition Leadership Scholarship, which is awarded to high school seniors with high merit and leadership potential. When I graduated, I received the Blue Chip Award, the highest undergraduate award conferred by the BU College of Communication.
At BU, I was deeply involved in the student newspaper, The Daily Free Press, eventually serving as editor-in-chief and a member of the board of directors.
I’m a native of Atlanta, a place that fostered my interest in journalism, music, soul food and warm weather.
Through my diverse reporting and editing experience, I gained experience in photography, social media and multimedia. Check out my writing samples and contact me to learn more!
